- 3 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 medium onion thinly sliced
- 2 tsp fresh thyme minced
- ¼ tsp kosher salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 12 sweet rolls
- 10 slices provolone cheese
- 14 oz sliced deli roast beef
- ½ cup unsalted butter melted
- 1½ Tbsp dried onion soup mix
- 1 packet au jus gravy mix
- 3 cups water
- Fresh parsley chopped (optional)
Caramelize onions: melt butter, cook onion, thyme, salt, and pepper until golden.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Slice rolls; place bottoms in dish.
Layer half the cheese, roast beef, onions, and remaining cheese; top with roll tops.
Mix melted butter and soup mix; brush over rolls. Cover with foil; bake 25 min.
Uncover; bake 5 min more until golden.
