Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
  • 3½ to 4 cups powdered sugar sifted
  • 2 –3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, beat butter on high speed for 5 minutes until fluffy.
  • Add powdered sugar one cup at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Mix in vanilla extract and salt.
  • Gradually add heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, until smooth and spreadable.
  • Beat on high for another 2–3 minutes for extra fluffiness.

Notes

  • Add food coloring or flavor extracts to customize.
  • If too thick, add more cream; if too soft, add more sugar.
  • Can be made ahead and refrigerated — bring to room temp and re-whip before using.
