Ingredients
  

For the Apples

  • 4 –5 tart apples Granny Smith or Pink Lady
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup Wondra flour
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/8 cup cinnamon

For the Dip

  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 8 oz Cool Whip or 1 cup whipping cream + 1/2 cup sugar, whipped
  • 1 cup caramel sauce

Instructions
 

  • Peel and slice apples, soaking them in buttermilk-sugar mixture.
  • Dredge in flour and fry in hot oil until golden on both sides.
  • Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
  • Mix cream cheese and Cool Whip, then stir in caramel sauce.
  • Serve warm apples with chilled caramel dip.
