For the Apples
- 4 –5 tart apples Granny Smith or Pink Lady
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup Wondra flour
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/8 cup cinnamon
For the Dip
- 8 oz cream cheese
- 8 oz Cool Whip or 1 cup whipping cream + 1/2 cup sugar, whipped
- 1 cup caramel sauce
Peel and slice apples, soaking them in buttermilk-sugar mixture.
Dredge in flour and fry in hot oil until golden on both sides.
Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
Mix cream cheese and Cool Whip, then stir in caramel sauce.
Serve warm apples with chilled caramel dip.
