Pillowy, slightly sweet dinner rolls enriched with honey and melted butter. These tender, golden rolls are perfect alongside soups, salads, or as a breakfast treat—no stand mixer required!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ¼ cup whole milk
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast 1 packet
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 4 Tbsp melted butter divided
  • 1 large egg at room temperature
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cups 480g all-purpose or bread flour

Instructions
 

  • Heat milk until steaming, then cool to lukewarm.
  • In a small bowl, combine milk, yeast, and honey. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, mix 3 Tbsp butter, yeast mixture, egg, salt, and half the flour.
  • Mix until smooth.
  • Gradually add remaining flour. Knead 8 minutes until soft and elastic.
  • Transfer to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour.

Notes

  • Make-Ahead: Prepare the dough through Step 4, then refrigerate overnight. Bring to room temperature for the second rise before shaping.
  • Whole-Wheat Twist: Substitute up to 1 cup of the flour with whole-wheat flour for nuttier flavor—add an extra 1–2 Tbsp milk if the dough feels too stiff.
  • Flavor Variations: Stir 1 tsp cinnamon into the dough for a sweet-spiced roll, or sprinkle coarse sugar on top before baking.
